Seco Tools AB
Highly effective filter equipment
- with economics and working environment in
focus
To meet future demands on working environment,
flexibility and productivity in the engineering industry, Absolent
AB has developed effective filter equipment that is now sold
all over the world.
Absolent filters offer a high degree of separation,
long service intervals of up to several years, and can run continuously
24 hours a day, seven days a week with a minimum of maintenance.
The long life span of the filter enables customers to minimize
production down time and other costs, such as filter replacement.
Personnel, machines and premises are purified of problematic
oil smoke and oil mist. This is good both for the working environment
and from a financial point of view.
Absolent contacted Seco Tools AB in Norrköping, Sweden, in late 1997. Seco was
having problems with electrostatic oil-mist filters in a group of grinding machines. Since
the filters were installed, they had been experiencing major difficulties with poor
separation efficiency and short service intervals. Initially, the filtered air was released
back into the factory area, but this caused problems in the working environment. The
company therefore decided to release the process air directly out through the roof, but
the oil caused damage to the roofing felt.
Absolent was entrusted with the task of supplying a type ODF 8000 central filter. The
filter serves an entire group of grinding machines. PPS plastic tubing with welded joints
was used to prevent leakage in the duct system. Since the new installation, the degree
of separation has been gauged at over 99% in the aerosol phase, and the only service
required in over 1.5 years of operation is replacement of the absolute filter.
The next year, Seco Tools asked for help with another smaller group of grinding
machines. An ODR 3000 was installed in week 44 1999 and has since then been in
operation without any problems. The ODF 8000 filter has now been replaced by an
ODR 6000. The reason for the exchange was that the filter had to cope with the new
higher particle loads that were caused by for example a higher coolant pressure in the
machinery. The filter unit is supplied with a constant pressure regulation device in order
to always deliver the correct air flow.
The technical manager for the grinding department, Mr Jimmy Carlsson, says that
Absolent has fully fulfilled the criteria that Seco Tools has demanded. Whenever there
has been a question, Absolent has quickly investigated and attended to the matter.
